    Question 1995 Polsris sl750 quiting????

Hello, I got a 95 polaris sl750 and had it out last weekend and Saturady it ran great no problems. Sunday came and it ran for 30 minutes and then died and with a "clunk" tried to start and it would not turnover. Took it to my garage and looked it over and everthing seemed ok. I charged the battery and changed the spark plugs. It turned over just fine with the water hose hooked up to it. I took it back out yesterday and the same thing happned? I dropped it off with a shop today ! Any help or advice Thanks

Is the protective Polaris plastic cover in place on top of the battery?

Is it possible the battery is shorting against something, or the battery connections (both ends of each cable) are not clean and tight?

Did you have the 'clunk' when it died the second time?

When you say it would not turn over, do you mean it would not crank, or it would crank but not start?

    Need more details please.

    Did it clunk, then die?

    Clunk when starting?

Started again the next day and ran fine until it died? Or clunked and died?

Be specific please. We need every detail to help out.

The battery cover is on and it was removed, charged and re-installed. The "clunk" happended after it died. It was the same scenario the second time. After it dies it will not start until it sits for an hour or so and the battery needs to have a full charge. I'm not a mechanic but it sounds like it is binding when to try to restart after it dies it will turn over but "hard" and after the 3rd try it won't do anything. The second day it ran fine until it died. I had the red warning light on but that only says "fuel". I hope this is more info that will help and thanks again.

Starter or Bendix binding against the flywheel, or just a bad starter or Bendix perhaps?

Try turning the engine over by hand, using the PTO coupler. Should turn fairly easily.

Check the Impeller bearings and wear ring clearances.

I got it back from the shop and they said that the one of the cranks is bad and that piston should be replace. The question I have know is should I fix it at a cost of $800 or part it out? Also should I start a new theard for the second part of the question? Thanks

When the ski dies, does it feel like it's starving for fuel, then shuts off.

Or does it stop all of a sudden, like electrical?

Interesting that it "clunks" after it shut off.....

Sounds like you need to take a peak at your bendix.
