Exclamation 95 polaris sl oil blockoff

Changed to running 40:1 premix and capped lines to and from the oil pump as well as removed the bleed screw is there any reason this will not work as opposed to installing a blockoff kit ?

I would be worried about possible air intrusion

The oil pump needs the oil to keep itself lubricated.

If the pump is pumping away without oil, it could seize, which would be bad. This is why most who elect for pre-mix remove the pump entirely, and install the block off plate.

Why did you switch to pre-mix?
Was there a problem with the oil pump system?

The Polaris and Fuji oil injection systems tend to be reliable, unlike some other brands which had troubles with their early generation oil pumps.

    oil blockoff

Removed as it just seemed to be less of a headach and was told it would be more reliable that way but I see your point with the pump siezing up.

You can leave the pump as a block off. If you do this, you first must remove the pump and pull out the little drive shaft gear that powers the pump. Then you can replace the pump and not worry about it siezing.

I hear that fairly often, but reports of actual Polaris oil pump failures are few and far between.

On the other hand, just one tankful of gasoline without the proper oil mixed in will damage the engine. Label the gas filler clearly (40:1 oil pre-mix), and be careful if anyone is going to be refuelling other than yourself.
