    Stupid repitch Question

Just got done putting my Riva Stage 1 In last weekend took it out today and And ran great except for the RPMs being only 7860..
E-mailed Jerry he's gonna give the prop the "GH Magic touch".
    Question is---
Why do some people install a stage 1 and their RPMs are at 8100
on the nose and some of us need the prop repitched??
Is it poor prop pitching from Solas or is there something the Ski is lacking that the repitch compensates for???? Just trying to learn a little more about these skis...

    Thanks
    Scott

Not stupid at all. I've been trying to figure out why there are large deviations both with "Stage I" "Stage II" "Stage III" both Riva and Rotax set ups. Doesn't seem even close to a perfect science.

I know no two machines are the same...But you would think these kits would be within their so called ratings..Dont get me wrong im not knocking
Riva or Rotex at all ...They both have decent products..Just cant figure out why such gerastic differances ...Example your ski and mine,,
we could put the exact same Riva kit in and I would have to repitch the prop and you would be hitting 8150 RPMs..thats what i dont get..Like i said in the first post--Just trying to understand these machines out a little bit..

The best explanation i can give is no two skis are alike.

Also, there can be slight variances in one prop to another and also tolerances in wear rings play a huge role in it.

I always measure them beforehand to make sure no blades are out of whack.

I'm with Jerry on this, differences in the prop and condition of the wear ring. Don't they just make one prop and pitch it differently depending on what stage it is intended for? They don't cast it in the exact pitch that is needed is what I'm trying to say. Once you start bending and nudging metal the is no way to get the identical result twice. That why metal working is such an art form because of the variations and imperfections.

Yudluz (Ben) bought many Concordes for his XP because they varied so much in RPM out of the box. He never re-pitched them, but had "big" and "small" 15/20's.

So i guess what im getting is solas makes a bunch of props,,then they have somebody or something pitch them accordingly to what pitch they need..needless to say a 'R' series prop could and will probley be off.???
They are not molded to the 14/19 or 15/20 pitch we are using they are bent to that.????
