Tip of the day: Changing out the oil pressure jet

When going with an ECU capable of increasing your RPM's its always a good idea to install the Rotax Racing oil pressure jet which will allow more oil to the head.

This is only for 03-05 4-Tec's as the 06 model uses a different oiling system.

The jet is located in the block and the head must be removed to change it.

Once the head is removed you will see the jet at the top right hand corner of the block (above #1 cylinder)

You will first have to break out the plastic pieces and pull it out. You will then notice a ball bearing they you have to get out. Lots of fun trying to get that bugger out!
Once the contents of the jet are removed you must remove the casing from the block. I like to use a slide hammer/dent puller. I got mine from Autozone for like $12. Just screw the tool into the jet casing (it has a little hole in it) and then slowly pull the slide hammer back and the casing will come right out of the block.

Just tap the new Rotax Racing jet in. I used a piece of wood and a hammer to drive it in place.

Hope this helps some of you guys!

Would a magnet help in getting that ball bearing out?

Good post Jerry!, what do you consider higher RPM`s?

Does a stock GTX SC have the same jet as the RXP? RXT?...Thanks...PR...

So, since I`m using the RXP/RXT ecu, and it still considered stock, I should be OK!?...PR...

I just found out also for all you who are putting a jet in your boats. That the 06 boats do not have them. Just thought you all should know i looked and looked for mine.

But now a questions for jerry?

I have heard that the 04's have problems with the oil pressure sending unit in the back. change it and its fixed.

But I also just learned that the oil pressure valve that has the 3 holes in it can get cought sometimes and give a false reading make everyone think its a oil pressure sensor. Can this problem be fixed or modified?

This isn't a very common problem and usually when it does happen its from someone overtightening it and crushing the cage (carrier).

so i guess what im asking is what are you guys doing to get more oil to the head? How can you keep oil in the head longer, can you tape off of the little allen plug in the back to supply oil somewhere else?

We get more oil to the head by installing the Rotax Racing oil jet.
