    Need help

Well since my other thread was a flop ill post over. I had brought in a cylinder to be honed, an get a new piston. Instead of matching the cylinder with my piston, they decided to bore in 1.00 over. I now have miss matched pistons. The original two are .050, an the 3rd is 1.00. Also the other two pistons are wsm an this new one is wesico. SInce i spent excess of 200 bucks shoudl i just run it? They told me they do it all the time an its just fine.

I would not run mismatched pistons and sizes.

Wisecos are considerably lighter, so no, I wouldn't run it.

Just bore out the last 2 cylinders. Try to exchange the pistons for a set of matching, correctly sized pistons and go from there. It will cost a little bit, but you are doing it the right way and it will save me money in the long run, should you use what you have, TRUST ME.

You might be able to score a new set on eBay or even here. Then you can sell the stuff you have now.

who did the work? i would not have accepted it.
i would talk to them and see what can be done on their end, otherwise, find a new/used cylinder (.050 over bored) and a match piston. chk gh classifieds first.
keep the other stuff for next rebuild or sell it.

It seems to me that you would want a balanced rotating assy. for performance reasons if nothing else.

Unbalanced engine turning 6500 RPM would give you vibration and prob premature crank bearing wear I'd think.

what will they warranty? piston/cylinder? how long? ussually warranties just involve parts replaced, not other incidental damage. what happens if it blowes up the crank and case over time? id tell them i want it right!
ck with randy or some of the other motor gurus round here for another opinion, but it doesnt sound like a way i'd go (mismatching).
