Impeller won't turn full circle by hand??

I have 2003 GP1300R, I had to rebuild the engine recently and today just as I went to get ready to put the motor back in, I tried to turn the driveshaft and the impeller stuck in one spot. It's free 3/4 of the way around but keeps hanging up in the same spot. I didn't try turning it when I pulled the motor so I don't know if it was like this before. It seemed to run fine earlier in the summer, but it's been sitting outside (covered) for about 6 weeks while I've been working on the engine. Will this just wear back in? Or do I need to stop where I am and pull the impeller? If I have to do that I may just fill the thing with rocks and sink it! LOL Any advice is always appreciated.

Its possible that the prop may be binding in the liner. You should DEFINATELY find the problem before you try to start it. You may end up ruining a prop if you dont. Pull the pump and see if it spins freely. If it does, spin the intermediate shaft and make sure it spins freely as well. If there are no problems with either, the prop is rubbing the liner.

It feels/sounds like the prop is hitting the liner, it is a stock steel liner and it hits in the one spot and grinds like metal to metal. Can I file the prop a little? what are my options?

dont file the prop or it will be scrape...

your liner may of come apart, salt water use causes this a lot..

the only way is a new liner if the prop checks out ok
