    Question about re-plated cylinders

I just got my cylinders back from Langcourt. They now have a silverish coating on the outside, I don't know if this is some kind of primer or what. But my question is, does that need to be removed from the gasket mating surfaces before they are re-installed? If so, what is the best way to clean them up, a wire brush or what?

    Thanks,

Are you sure there coated and not just raw aluminum? They strip them prior to plating, mine looked like they were painted silver but it was just raw aluminum. I painted mine (not the gasket surfaces)

That might be the case. They were painted before the went to Langcourt. The painted area looks like someone attempted to prime them but didn't do a very good job since there is blotches of the paint still there. After a closer look, it may be raw aluminum with some of the black paint left.

Thanks for pointing that out for me.

They strip the cylinders all the way down before they do any work on them. So it is just raw.
