Do I have a stock ride plate?
I bought a 98 yamaha GP 1200. It has a bad porpoising problem. I was going to order an after market intake grate and ride plate. Then I noticed that it has a R&D intake grate. But I don't know if is an after market ride plate. I don't want to order a plate if it will be the same as the one I have. I took the plate off and looked it over. It is cast aluminum with two grooves the full length of the plate. It has no name brand on it. It has the numbers GP7-U273B-00-F. And below that it has the letters LSI. Can anyone tell me if this is the original plate? Do all the aftermarket plates have a brand name on it? Any help would be great.

Thanks for the fast reply. I thought it was. I hope an aftermarket one with shims will help the porpoising.

just add two washers on the back 2 bolts of the stock rideplate....i bet it fixes it.....also be sure the sponsons are adjusted down.

Thanks for the help!! I think I will order the riva plate. I guess it comes with washers. Does anyone know if I should put locktite on the plate bolts?

the Riva plate could porpoise more....try the washers first on the stock plate....no loctite.
