Installing Riva intake system question RXP

When installing the Riva intake system on a 2005 RXP it has me remove all the front intake system. Now there is also the part of the system bolted to the steering column. Do I remove this bracket from the plastic part and reinstall it or do I keep that part of the system attached to the boat all togeather?

It seems with that part missing there is a big gaping hole in my ski under the seat that will take on water.

Most likely they want you to remove that plastic piece but leave the bracket. I have that piece removed and actually had my filter right against that hole... I ride surf and didn't have any water ingestion... now if it rolled it would be a dif story which is why I am relocating my filter. (I made a custom intake)

From splash and such you will not take on much water just some spray. If you can leave that piece in and it makes you fell more comforatable then give it a whirl, I'm sure it really wont hurt performance...

You can see in this picture -- Like I said if it rolled I don't think this setup would do my engine any good... In the process of moving the filter.

How do you vent the hull when doing this? I am just curious on the best way to vent it and not ingest water?

Thanks for the replies guys I appreciate it. I guess it looks like if the piece is out it will get the most clean air to the air filter. If some of you ride in the ocean with the piece installed I can't see our fresh water lake here Lake Simcoe we ride in getting that rough to need it. I guess I will do some testing with and without on GPS to see if one is faster then the other.
