Plugged hole shot question
Hi again all -- I saw a couple guys riding this weekend with no hole shot (i think - the rooster tail). Do some guys plug the hole? Why would you do this?

If you look on the botttom of the hole you'll see a hose that goes to the pump, if you take the hose off you'll loose your "roostertail" I'm pretty sure Yamaha calls it a "visibility spout".... eigther way it makes your ski look like a rental imho! Might as well grab a big stencil and spray paint a giant blaze orange #3 on the front and back of the ski!
Most of the guys with modded skis fill the hole in the pump where the hose connects to gain a few tenth's on top end.

We call it the fairy flag
just do a lorraine bobbit on it mate
funny thing is many new guys think its there to let you know theres water running through the engine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've got my attention. How would you plug it ?Is it worth doing? And can you do it with an IR holeshot kit installed?

It has nothing to do with the IR kit..
Plug it however you want to plug it. It's just a hole in the pump with a hose connected to the hull deck...
Pale Rider (Andy) had a cool setup where he threaded an allen screw in the hole from the top. It sits flush with the deck and looks good.
On 79Malibu's (Anthony) Venture Termite (Jim) jambed a stray stick in the hole to keep it from showering us...
I've heard of other guys splicing a valve into the rubber hose to be able to turn it on and off....
It's really all how you want to do it. It does not effect anything or serve any REAL purpose accept annoy the people you ride with..
