    Angry Broken Shaft?

    So late afternoon yesterday I took the Pro 1200 out to the lake. She started up fine and I idle'd her out. When I gave it some gas I heard this god awful whining noise and the impeller was not turning. I haven't had time yet to disconnect the impeller (at work) but plan on doing it tonight. Other than just seeing the problem is there anything else I need to look for? Is this a reoccuring problem in the Pro 1200's? Thanks everyone,

    Yes, in my experience it is. I was told that they just took the 1050 shaft and put it in the 1200. The shaft broke on my X45 (also a 1200). I had to buy a hardened shaft from hot seat. It wasnt any more expensive than buying a regular one. My friend just purchased a X45 and his too broke at the end of the season last year. Just my experience.

    Broken mine on my MSX150 10 days ago... .... was wondering if this is a common problem? It broke just before the impeller splines.

    the pro 1200 uses a shaft all by its self check with Randy at Watcon for one

    Well I ended up opening it up last night and the crazy sound was lead leader wrapped in the impeller zone. I unwound it and cut it out. Everything looks fine other than my blades are nicked to hell. Oh well I guess I'll replace them in the off season.........

    So the impeller WAS turning?

    How much material was wrapped around the drive shaft?
