80mph Speed goal. But I LOVE my OPAS, can I do it without Blockoffs?

Anyone running over 80 and retained OPAS? I've been pilling up a decent list of after market parts for my RXP-X lately, and am getting to the 73 mark on the OEM prop, but am starting to get the porpoise. I have read that RE OPAS block offs help with proposing, and are a good mod for adding stability in straight line high speed runs. But I do alot of low speed maneuvering, and I LOVE my OPAS, I don't want to loose it. I have some Riva Sponsons coming in hoping this will help some.

I guess my real question is, why does the OPAS system cause the ski to porpoise? Can I chop the bottoms off the OPAS flaps so they don't contact the water, or not as much? Basically, Can I keep my OPAS and get the speeds I want, or am I going to have an unstable ski if I don't get the blockoffs?

I don't see why it could not be done. I don't think they slow you down

I dont think it is the slow you down issue but the stability issue at say 75+.
Sounds like with the right setup it is possible.

I was timid about doing without my opas as well, but saved all my parts at first just in case I didn't like the feeling of it. I will say though that the opas has been the best thing yet I have done. Last year when it was choppy or I caught a wave wrong I could really feel it catching my ski and steering, with the opas gone I fly right over waves and through chop without that pull or catch it feels like I guess. I would say buy them..try them..if you don't like them..resell them..you may be out a little bit of money but I think you will find out you like them.
