SL900 RPM's and new impeller
Hey fellas. I get about 6100 - 6300 RPM max out of my 1996 SL900, is that about right?
Also, since I have the pump off, I was wondering if there is an impeller upgrade that I could get that would give me an increase in MPH (don't care much about hole shot). I believe that the stock impeller on it is a 17-22. Is the impeller a pretty easy thing to replace?

I have a 97 SL 900 and I get between 6200-6300 RPM max. Top speed for me is 55.3 on GPS with the stock impeller with a full tank of gas and myself, which I *think* is respectable for the ski.

Cool, thanks. I think I'm gonna leave the impeller for the time being, maybe a winter project.

A Nu-jet 6.5 would probably work well in that boat. Will give you more mid-top end speed. I'd expect at least 1mph increase and more midrange acceleration. Also a Solas PA-SC-X, or maybe an X0 (if the motor will pull it) would also give you a bit more go power.
