Zerk fitting on end of impeller housing

I have a 94 Raider and was wondering if anyone has put a Zerk fitting on the end of the impeller housing? Or is this just asking for water intrusion? I just rebuilt the jet pump housing and was thinking this would be an easy way to keep greased...

I know it has been done on some GPR's. They drill and tap into the cone.

Mine has a screw on the end already. All I would have to do is remove and put the right zerk fitting in. No tapping required. I am just wondering if anyone has had any problems by doing this?

In my experience zerk's have a pipe thread, and will cross thread on standard thread....

.... not saying it can't be crammed in there. Or tapped for pipe thread. But i've had them blow out on quads and machinery from this problem. Usaully no biggie. But underwater i'm not sure i'd risk it.

I will have to check, I thought I had seen some that would work. IF and only IF I do find they are threaded correctly any other problems with doing it?

I found these in stainless, I figure the metric will work. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/fitti...nlessSteel.pdf

Probably add a cover to keep out extra debris.
