    98 gsx l lost 1000rpm and is making squealing noise

    I was at the lake on sunday, tipped the ski, and sucked some water into the carbs ... took the spark plugs out, blew the water out, got it started again, but now it lost about 1000 rpm and makes a squealing noise that sounds like its coming from the back of the ski... would a dry bearing cause this in the jet pump (i bought the thing with 113 hours on it, put 3 more on it and ddint check oil) .... or an ungreased zerk fitting? what u guys think? ps its now 5800 vs 6800 on a stock boat that has 3 hrs on freshly broken in motor that has slightly retarded ign. timing ...

    Check the grease on the PTO, pull the pump and see how it spins...

    As Danny said grease the PTO and pull the pump. Change the oil and inspect the bearings in the pump, the noise is prob from here. Check it before riding or things will get worse.

    ok ... im going to pull the pump tomorrow or friday, and am going to pick up new pump oil from the dealer tomorrow .... if i need to do the jet pump rebuild kit from SBT, is that difficult to do for someone with reasonable technical knowledge?

    My goal is to get this thing out in the chesapeake (northeast / elk rivers) a week from saturday ....

    Replaced Fuel Lines
    Rejetted Carbs, Deleted Accelerator Pump
    Rebuilt Carbs
    ADA Racing 49cc Dome head
    Solas 15/20 Concord

    I got my work cut out for me!

    You can use just a normal Synthetic Gear Lube, like Mobil 1...

    Why did you put your timing on the short bus???

    -try +2* timing with re-jetting. (MPEM setting #3)

    Ok ... can i run 89 then or do i have to run 93 ...

    it got set low because it was at the dealer to get programmed then it turned out it was something else, still have to get back to the dealer to have them fix it ... i wont have any longevity problems making it +2?

    89 should be ok with a stock head/compression.

    Have an extra key programed while your there.
