    Fuel Mixture

Hi, I'm a new member! My quetion is the mixture of oil to fuel on my 94 polaris SLT when you say 40/1 is this 40 gallons of fuel to 1 quart of oil? I belive my fuel thank holds about 7 gallons how many ounces of oil should I put in? I just put in the 3 output fuel pump and oil block off plate and put in a new piston on the mag side, had a hole in the old one.

It would be 40 gallons of fuel to one gallon of oil, 40 units of fuel to one unit of oil.

Becareful when you start the engine up for the first time as there is no pre-mixed fuel in all the lines. You will be running on pure gas for a minute or two. Try to add a couple of drops of oil in each carb or spray a little pre-mix in them.

my recomended mix for a 5 gal gas can is 15 OZ. of oil to 5 gal of gas. this is per klotz mixing guide (40:1) for r-50. have a clear bottle marked at 15 oz as i buy oil in gal jugs then pour into the marked bottle.
    pretty foul proof.

40:1 is 16 oz of oil per 5 gallons, just a hair lean!!

With a new piston,I would run a 32:1 for the first tank.

yah i know the math doesnt work but that klotz recomendation and who an i to argue. klotz is problably shaving off the 1 oz because 40:1 is max mix. others have told us not to run r-50 can go cheaper but it what was given us with the skis and wear and sticky e valves not an issue. tried 5 gal mixed with penzoil syntetic blend and didnt like it: hard start plugs fouling at slow speeds.
also use stabil (6 oz i believe per 5 gal)if theres any possibilty of the gas setting more than a week (ussually just put it in every 5 gal tank).
    good link!
