    hand grips

hi all. i have brught a new set of hand grips for my slx 1200. I hva etried cutting of the old ones but my new ones wont fit on. looking at the end of the handle bars there seems t be a inter section of bar and like a sheath over it. this sheath has two spot welds on the ends to hold it in place. is this outer sheath part of the grip and suppose to come off os is it suppose to be there.
they are odi grips ir that makes a difference

yep old end cap. good luck getting all that old crap off, it all has to go. odi are a tight fit anyhow, use some lighter fluid for lube to put on grips after you do inner collar. it dries fast and lets the grip set problerly but work fast.
got um on both skis- love em!

I've found a compressor blowing air ito one end of the bar while pushing grips onto the other works really well, at least on bicycles... - it inflates the grip just enough to let it slide on, then when you remove the air supply it lets the grip contract.

If there is a pin-hole in the end of the grips then you can use that to blow air into the new grip to do the same on the remaining side.

odi ussual come off with 1 good slice and lots o sweat.
4 piece grip- 2 collars, grip (grip has linner too), and end cap.
note in picture inner collar is still attached its gotta go first or itll never come off.

from the picture, looks like; 1- end cap needs to come off 2- inner collar needs to be removed (with sm allen wrench) 3- the rest of the grip must come off then (the stuff that looks like it been pealed or sliced).
did you get everything? should have 2 grips 2 ends 4 collars and a wrench.

heres mine notice from center out you have 1-lock collar 2-grip 3-lock collar 4-end, you see it best on rt grip.
