    Primer Research

    Has any one installed a primer kit just by drilling holes in the air box right above the carbs and leaving the choke system intact? Would be much easier than removing carbs, pulling shafts and installing fittings, plus you would retain the stock choke. Would appreciate any comments.

    I believe that the reason that most people remove the choke plates is for better air flow through the carb(s), not because it would interfere with the primer operation.

    With your proposal, I would worry about fuel being caught in the air box creating a fire/explosion hazard.

    What kind of ski are you working on?

    Parts Unlimited Primer Kit

    I am in the middle of installing the Parts Unlimited Primer Kit on my '96 ZXI 1100. Once removing the stock choke the brass fittings provided in the kit drop right in.

    The problem I am running into is that the kit tells you to tap into the reserve fuel line. The '96 ZXI 1100 does not have a seperate "line" outside of the tank for the reserve. Does anyone know what to do to get around this?

    I put mine in the return line.
