    Metal behind the gauges.

I have a 2007 ultra 250 and I remeber a post that said to remove the metal plate that blocks air intakes. Is this a bad idea?

Thats a block off plate that was a recall, it stops water intrusion into the hull, alot of people have removed it, it does hinder performance, but its a personal choice for you to make....................

+1 you gotta go deep and long under water to be a real problem, just make sure your bilges work, or fit and extra powered one.
