    Gp1200r Carb Settings

Hey guys hows it going, my name is Doug from long island, NY and i currently in the process of finsihing my first build.

I took my stock gp1200r and added the following:

    Rd ride plate
    Rd intake grate
    RD pump seal kit
    Rd D-plate
    Riva free flow
    Riva reed stuffers
    Riva power pentum flame arrestors
    Primer kit

I just recently got a nice set of carbs from another green hulk member who ran in freshwater to replace mine. His were already modified with the choke plates removed, acc. pump removed, re-built, and re-jetted. From his advice i did the following jetting adjustments to make the carbs tuned for my modifications. I installed a 120 main, 110 pilot, and a 95g spring. I also adjusted the 6 needles on both side of the carbs (highs and lows) to 1 and 1/4 turns out. Tommorow i am going to reinstall everything and give it a go, but i just want to get everyones opinions on my adjustments and if the jets and needles are correct and set right.

I appreciate all the help you can give me, and thank you for your time.

    doug

I'd set the lows at 1 turn and the highs at 1.5 turns.. Everything else sounds good to me..

    thanks for the advice.

So after i get it back together... i run it on land for a few minutes then check the plugs to make sure it isnt running to lean or rich... then if its hit the water warm it up then do a highspeed run and then check the plugs again? i also should look to be going over 7k rpms while fulled speed correct?

well the guy before me told me that the only jets and settings i need to change to make my carburetors run for my modifications were the 120 main, 110, pilot, and 95g spring. Im pretty sure he told me that he was running 1.5 needles and seats. Yes the acc. pump has been removed along with choke plates.

You need to make sure. pull the N&S and check, it is stamped in the bottom.

+1 the lows will be too rich at 1 1/4 and the highs will be safer at 1 1/2 to start.

    Cool Settings..??

    Hey Doug...

As has been mentioned from the other Guys..

1/. pull out the Needle/Seat to confirm 1.5.?
2/. 1 1/4 on the lows will be a little bit rich.?
    3/. 1 1/4 on the hi's may be a little lean.?

Now i don't see any mention of having checked the carb pop off..??

Also is the motor stock apart from F/A's and stuffers..

So no high compression head etc..??

I'd imagine if this is the case then a good starting point would be 1 turn out on the lows..
Then start with yours hi's at 1.5 turns out.. (you'll likely end up back at 1 3/8 or so on the hi's)

Also if using stock compression make sure to stick with br8es plugs..

Good luck with your testing tomorrow Doug..

This will feel like a completely different ski when the carbs are dialed in..

how is the 05 bb comming , our weather has been bad for the past three days ,and i didn't feel like working on mine . think i'm going to use m-16 reeds since you ended up with the balance plate .
