i havent seen anything about it here on GH before. it looks alright, but i like the "finished" look about the RIVA kit. then again, i'm a fanatic about the details.

i thought for a minute about pulling my riva ff tubing and just have my local muffler shop mandrel bend me a piece just like it. it would be quick and less expensive........hmmm instead of powder coating or whatever they use, go with stainless exhaust tubbing......

    maybe over the winter.......

I would think that the "U" shape would restrict flow and that is the whole point to the mod. APBA rules allow for the Riva pipe but not the internal mods to the water box.

Also why didn't you pull the 2nd box out of there. It's just added weight now. I do realize that it is a tight fit getting it out, but a typical Ford truck jack works wonders. Just follow the (Free) RIVA instructions posted online.

One could go to a company that makes custom boat towers and get them to make this part. I would suggest that you make some kind of template to get the correct dimensions. The RIVA pipe isn't too expensive hwen you look at what has to be done to fit a pipe.

I would also suggest doing the Cold air mod posted under kawi performance. It entails moving the intake into the fire ext tub. This separtes the intake from the hot engine.

I pretty much did the same thing except I used some corrugated wet exhaust hose.

No matter what exhaust you use there will be a U bend. The riva has a bend, a flexible hose will, and so does the one just shown. The only difference is the bends will be in different places, but the shapes are the same. As long as it's mandrel bent, there shouldn't be any problems.

Aaron, that sounds like a good idea with the corrugated exhaust. roughly how much of it did you have to use? i found a website that sells it by the foot for $9.95. i was thinking a couple of feet would do. ive never worked with that stuff. was it easy to bend and how hard is to cut? did you use the 2.5 inch diameter?

    About the bend....

Yes all the options are a form of a U but the radius of the U's are different. The larger the radius the less back flow. This can be proven by looking at plumbing systems. The larger radius is used for larger flows of fluid. Air by definition is a fluid.

The flex exhaust hose probably would work great.

One could probably use exhaust hose for cold air intake mod. Should be cheaper than Alum tubing

Here's a pic of the hose. I also did the water bypass mod.
The hose diameter is 2 3/8" and you'll need about 2 1/2 feet of it.
