    2000 Virage issue...

just got back from trip and my 2000 carb virage was doing something funny.

When I start it the first time in the day, its a rough rough start and takes a while to get going. I would anchor it for 20-30 minutes and go out again. But after each time I started it it was rough start again, had to pull the choke everytime to start, and when it did get going, there is a lot of smoke. ALso after starting if I did not get to crusing speeds and just sit there and idle it would cut out,a nd starting it after that was very difficult. But when its crusing for 30 seconds its fine drives fine gets to 65 mph no problem can ride for hours and when come to idle it does not cut out. The battery is brand new gel pack type so it never read low bat. Also, when I was on it when it happened the fisrt time I pulled the lanyard out, and the motor kept running for 5 seconds!!! never happend after that....please help!

What spark plugs do you have in it?

What do they look like? Fouled?

not sure what fouled is, but they are brand new ngk, dealer put them in, and were working fine for the last 5 rides....

It sounds like you may have a leaking needle/seat and the fuel is puddling into the cylinders. If it were mine, I'd pull the carbs and go through them, be sure to check the pop off pressur ewhen done.
If you don't like carb work, I'd send them to randy at Watcon and for 50 bucks each plus some parts he'll go through them.

also, when it does that, the water where you put your feet and near the back of the boat seems to have gas all over it, and it smells more

    carb

its a single carb, sounds like the return restriction might be plugged, the green gue from the gray lines.will fill the exhuast with an overage of fuel and find its way out the exhaust,it floats on the water at the back and thats why you smell it
