Typical - Holiday weekend and ski broken !!

    Symptoms,

Cyl no 1. is cold. Compression is good, plenty of fuel around, tried a new plug, and it just comes out the same color it went in but wet !! Checked carb on that cyl and everything looks ok. Checked reeds. switched coils problem stays on no 1. Tested coils and thay all read the same. Tested all three ht wires and they read 6K ohms for no3 shortest, then 8K no.2 and finally 10k no1, which I believe is due to there length.

So is it possible that a cdi can go bad on just one cylinder, i guess it is since they have separate supplies from the cdi. I assume the coil pickup is ok since there is only one and cyls 2 + 3 are ok.

Am i on the right track or have I missed something... this is my first ski.

This happened yesterday after a wot run, did a u-turn and baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... low power but made it back to the ramp and oily goo all over my pump from the exhaust

    Thanks guys.

have you pulled the plug and checked it to see if you get spark when you crank it?

Yeh there is one but very faint.

But the the others dont seem that great either. Maybe cdi is going which makes no,1 cyl most prone because of the extra resistance in having the longest HT wire ?????

Or do cdi just go ??? All or nothing kinda thing???

Cant think what else it could be.

the spark plug wire may be loose on the ignition coil . check that
Or possibly there is loose wire and that coil isnt getting enough voltage

Yeh tried that man. Swapped coils and leads etc and problem stays on #1 cyl. and #2 & 3 run fine.

have you tried the wire itself? once i split my wire and i had erratic power and sputtering since the wire was arcing on the exhaust

Yeh wires look as new. bent 'em flexed 'em always while connected to a meter and they appear fine and within specs.

    Thanks

May be one of the triggers on the flywheel
