'96 ZXI 900 Trim Box Removal?
Does anyone know how to disconnect the trim control cable from the box?

Yea, you have to open the box and take the trim unit appart.

I already have the box open, but am not too sure how to disconnect the cable from the box.

It has been a while since I have had mine appart but I believe that you need to disconnect the cable from the trim nozzle first to allow the cable itself to spin in the housing as you unscrew it from the box.

If you are REALLY lucky you might find a used one but they are a common failure point so finding a good one rare.
And if you are thinking about going to the dealer you better take a jar of vasoline with you. I think they are in the $400 range for just the motor.
Are you sure that it is the motor that is bad and not the controller?
Sometimes you can carefully take the motor apart and clean the corrision up and get it to work again. Might be worth a shot if you are sure yours is dead.

I've already verified that the trim position sensor works. The motor is completely shot. I found a controller already. I installed the motor in a known good unit and it does not work.
