    Jeffsntx's 2nd conversion build

Here is the start of my 2nd conversion build. This will be a basic Stage III build set up for drag racing since my wife will be riding it most of the time. The engine is out of an 05 RXT with only 5 hours on it. Everything is extremely clean and I am taking my time doing a few little things I wish I would have done on my first build. I am currently being held up by motor mounts and the conversion drive shaft. Everything is ready to drop in and run. I fitted the Doo fuel pump in the GPR EFI tank and it fits GREAT!!! I shorteded the GPR tank straps so that they will fit the fuel tank without the oil tank in place. I have started routing the main wiring harness and making all of the modifications necessesary for the electrical components. I am spending a little more on the gauges and so forth since everything else on this build is very low hour and clean.

Jeff, I don't think the RXP pickup bottoms out as it does in the rxp tank. Look into this some more.

Mark, I dropped the pump module into the tank and then used my bore scope to look into the tank to see how far I was from the bottom. The 3 feet on the bottom of the module were only about 1/8"-1/4" off of the bottom. So then I had to find something to take up just a little bit of space so that I didnt have to lengthen the module. What I did was took the 3 rubber feet off of the GPR pump module, turned them upside down and stuck them on the feet of the RXP module. Then when I dropped it back in the pump had abut a 1/4" gap between the mounting surfaces. I am going to have the center of the GPR "hold down" for the module cut so that it will fit the top of the RXP pump. I should have taken better pics before I put it in, but I dont have an RXP tank so I was VERY excited to make it work.

That makes sense, as long as that filter is held in place. I don't think it would be good if it fell off.

you couldn't have done this 6 months ago!!! That's cool man. Sounds alot easier than the way I went. Maube you can use the stainless flange from the yamaha pump to really hold down the rxp fuel sender?

Thats exactly what I am planning on doing. I need to take it to the machine shop so they can trim the center out of it with a plasma cutter. I just put the nuts on to keep the crud out of the tank and to keep from loosing the nuts.

Progress is coming VERY slow with this one. I am being very anal trying to clean things up and experiment with some ideas. I took the cowlings to my friends body shop Tues afternoon and talked to the painter about what I wanted done. I wanted some VERY subtle ghost flames that you couldnt see from a distance since the ski will be blacked out. He added blue ghost flames that are WAY beyond what I was expecting. It is VERY hard to convey how they look in person with these pics, but I am going to try anyway. The last 2 pics are from the same angle, one with the flash and one without.
