    Wiseco Piston Clearances

I just got a set of Wiseco pistons and in the past I found out the hard way that the paper with the pistons was way off on clearances.. I tried .004-.005-.007 and .008. I siezed on 4 and 5 but did fine on 7 and 8. NOW my question is are they still the same? They are M series forged pistons 1mm over. What do ya think 7 or 8?? Thanks ooops I forgot my planned mods are stock pipe F/A's ADA Head with 50cc domes, Vforce reads and spacers

Thanks dsolie I dropped them at the Machinist this morning. I asked for .007 and hey asked why but didnt argue... But you took the fear out of it. That means Wiseco still makes them the same. I been out of it for atleast 3 years and wasnt sure if they still did need the added clearance Thanks again

7 will be fine. I always chose 8 because I never usually got to do a real good warm up at the races.. Usually they would call our moto and we would have about 10 seconds to get the skis warm..

that extra bit was security that on this race, I MIGHT not sqeek the piston before the first turn. lol.

Yeah, i go .007 to .0075 on wisecos. warm up engine for 45 seconds before getting on it.

    Dan, i'm assuming you're talking 951 for .008

.004 and .005 is a disaster once it's up to operating temps.

Yup, 951.. We did a 717 with the same clearance too, still runs..

Bit of strange info.. OEM Spec's.. 657x motor, they want .010 clearance on OEM pistons.. WTF??

that's upper limit of wear dan. clearance for fresh on 657X should be .005 with OEM pistons.
