    No CAT or D-plate

As anyone tried running without the cat or d-plate. I know back pressure plays a part, but does this only effect the low end or the entire power band.

It affects the entire powerband on a 2 stroke. The back pressure wave is what charges the cylinder as there are no valves to keep the fuel charge in the cylinder.

I'm not looking for any gain. I just don't want to spend $80 on a piece of aluminum. Matter fact I could live with an 50 -80 rpm loss.

you might have a problem with the mounting brackets fitting properly (because you will be in effect shortening the length of the exhaust pipe)

Remove the guts from the cat and give it a shot. After that buy the d-plate and be done with it.
