Intake Grate questions
Ok so I broke the intake grate off the kawi 750 and need some info:
1) Would losing the grate cause loss of water through the engine. I overheated as well
2) What grate should i get to replace the stock

It is possible to cause overheating. The grate makes for a smooth flow of water through the pump. With out it, you would most likely get cavitation causing air to get into the cooling line. Just my unscientific guess. When I lost mine, I lost almost 10 mph. Mine is now bolted through the hull to keep me from losing another.
Stock, R&D, OP Tried and like them all. What kind of riding conditions?

sorry lake and river riding. recreational small chop and ski boat wakes

You shouldn't need the R&D one then. It is mainly for heavy chop. It lost me about 2mph with it. However, it did keep me hooked up better when playing around. It also helped me to track better in chop (no sponsons). I do like the OP one though. If you can get them cheap, try several out and see what you like on your waters.
Maybe someone can loan you one to try for the weekend. Personally, my extra R&D is at the bottom of the lake. It does have quite a bit more downforce pulling on the mounting bolt at speeds. It ripped mine completely off.

I think i forgot to lock tite the front bolts and they just wiggled out broke the grate at the rear mount point. So I think i just need a stock or slightly over stock grate
