Water Leak .. Help
I still have a water leak
I replaced the carbon seal and related components, put in
a new pump and newly repitched prop and changed my oil and
filter saturday, then took out to lake today..
Pretty happy with performance, but it still freaking leaks.
Seems to leak when I am idleing in now wake zones and just
idleing around the boats/etc.
After a couple of minutes, My electric bilge pump kicks in..
WTF any other ideas??
I did notice that 1 of my bailer tubes that is on nozzle side
of pump has about 1/2" or less broken off ... prob by my rock
episode last month.
COuld this cause water in hull?
If I am just sitting tied up to the boat, no water leaking...
so it is something to do with the engine running..

I think it would. From the reading i have done, I believe so. Get it fixed and ride it again. Let us know. --jeremy

where is the water coming in from? is it an exaust leak? or do you have no idea

I can't really tell "where" it is coming in..
I do know that these 2007 "bailer/ drain plug" assemblies suck.
The plastic check ball is always stuck. Even when I tilt
the trailer back at 45*, I can't get water to drain out them.
I have to pull them out and "loosen" the check ball.. WTF..
Maybe this is the problem! My electric bilge pump doesnt kick
on till about 2-3 inches of water in hull. So even after
the 60 mile ride home, my hull had 1-2 " of water in it due
to crappy drain plug.

Maybe the check balls are blocking the bailer tubes and letting water seep in while idling. Can you screw in the plugs from the outside like the old drain plugs? If so, I would leave them in and see if your leak stops... Ron

yeah, from the outside of the hull they look just
like the old style... didn;t know they
were different untill I pulled them out.
I am cleaning them real good with hot soap and
water right now.. Then I'll try again.
The inside portion is a torpedo shape with small perforations
in it. I guess the ball is supposed to fall backward
when water in the hull so the bailer tube that are
connected to that portion can suck out water.
But if I can't even get them to "drain" water out when
on the trailer.. what a p.o.s.

So I cleaned out drain plug/bailer assemblies real good. Blew compressed
air thru the hoses and it blew real cleanly out the steel
bailers in the pump exit nozzle--- so no issue there.
I filled hull with water about up to bottom of s/c air inlet, over
No leak just sitting there.
So i started engine at let idle for 30 seconds.
saw a little water coming out around/ thru pump and a tiney
bit out of exhaust outlet..
Dried off with compressed air real good.
Started engine and revved several good quick ones, like
when clearing out water in exhaust..
VERY wet around pump...
It's like water is coming out of the pump
Where the hell is it getting it's water supply from????
When not running, no water leaking out...

Is my pump shoe leaking????
I dont know what to look for next

How about around the ride plate were the coolant tubes come up through???OR were your steering and VTS go through the transom..

I checked around the steering and reverse cables.. no leaks there.
I filled the hull with even more water and tilted the boat back
more.. Was able to see that water was leaking out above the
pump tunnel at the "opas" T where opas was..
This doesn't explain why I am getting a leak when there was
less water in the hull though.
Maybe my pump shoe is leaking..
I didn't see any air bubbles or anything coming out
of the coolant lines where they attach down to the ride plate.
