I purchased a used 96 XP and after riding if for no more then 15 minutes burned a hole in the middle of the back piston. Took the carbs apart and both filters were clean and carbs looked to be in good shape. I am going to put a kit in them anyway. Found that the manifold between the carb and rotary plate was cracked. We have also found that the front and rear rods are not 180 degrees. If the front rod is at 12 o'clock the rear is at 5 o'cock. Has anyone ever had the crank twist on them? Or is it more then likely someone put the crank back together wrong? If the rear pisons was behind would this more then likely caused the hole in the piston or would the crack in the manifold be the culprit? Any suggestions or help would greatly be appreciated.
