    efi controller & oil injection

Just want to share some information with the members about using efi controller and stock oil injection. You have to remember when you start to mod you ski and you then have to use an efi controller to add more fuel you are adding more fuel but the oil injection is only adding oil for stock fuel mapping set from factory in other words the oil injection is not keeping up with all the extra fuel the efi controller is adding. That will cause premature engine failure and cylinders being wash clean with fuel and crank failures.

So if you are running an efi does that mean you have to go to premix the answers is (NO) you can still keep your oil injection if you like, But what i recommend is for every gallon of gas you add to your tank add 1 ounce of oil so if you put 12 gallons of gas add 12 ounces of oil. Trust me your motor will last way longer and the engine temps will be lower. I use to do that to my 1300 efi ski before i went big bore and after 550 hours i took that motor out and put it in my wifes XLL and still is running with 670 hours and i will be taking it apart now to go big bore.

I figure i would share this with the forum members this could save you a motor in the long run. Thank you, Jim

Thanks for the info. Dang 670 hours is = to 23,450 miles if you average only 35 miles per hour. That is a long time on a 2-stroke.

Could the same advice be applied to carburated skis on the same principle (more fuel being inducted into engine)?

    yes...

Great info Jim.I premix my ski's at 36:1 Amsoil,EFI and carbed. This way you are 100% sure there is no issues with low oil mixture.

    Jim,

    Great post
Do you need to adjust the 1oz/gal gas/oil ratio in relation to the amount of extra fuel added??
    What's the % fuel change on the EFI between 1 & 11?? 10%??

    Thanks,

    JP

on a non ported ski when the efi is set below 5 on bottom mid and high 1/2 ounce a gallon works fine. On ported ski or efi set over 5 use the 1 ounce per gallon.

    OK now I'm freakin'.
My GP1200R is Island rejetted with t-handles, ProTec head and still running oil injection. Sounds to me like I need to be adding an ounce per gallon, right?

When they went to efi in 03 they went very lean on the oil injection especially on the idle side. The carb. ski was not that lean adding a 1/4 to 1/2 ounce per gallon will be fine.
