Just have tu turn the oil pump butterfly back and put the cable on it. Only reason I knwo if my cable forgot to be put back on when I put my timing key in. Oh well. Live and learn. Its no big deal. Just pull the pipe off and you can get to it pretty easy.

    premix with oil injection

great tip.....i have an 03 gpr. With the cat still in place. It has been developing alot of heat. So i did the premix with the oil injection. What a big difference......i was out for almost 1 hour at mostly full throttle. When i popped the seat it was very cool to the touch......when before i could hardly even touch the exhaust. That is a great tip even before addind the fuel controller.

    bow tie:

So if I get this right; if the cable is off, the pump is at wide open default? Does this mean when the cable is attached and you pull the throttle, the pump is giving less oil?

Remember than any oil you add to the fuel displaces fuel. Therefore your ski will run leaner. Most of the time it won't be enough to cause an issue, but if you're going to do this, make sure you do your carb tuning with premix gas also.

i found when setting the oil pump cable following the bulletin for the throttle cable recall, at WOT the oil pump is turned as far as it will go, i was actually just shy of the marks at WOT according to the bulletin the pump was turned as far as it would go. found the same thing on a friends when doing his recall to. i guess what i'm say is when the fuel is wide open, the oil is to. just remember to add to the fuel if your running an EFI controller (more fuel, more oil)

You have to remember when you start to mod you ski and you then have to use an efi controller to add more fuel you are adding more fuel but the oil injection is only adding oil for stock fuel mapping set from factory in other words the oil injection is not keeping up with all the extra fuel the efi controller is adding. That will cause premature engine failure and cylinders being wash clean with fuel and crank failures.

So if you are running an efi does that mean you have to go to premix the answers is (NO) you can still keep your oil injection if you like, But what i recommend is for every gallon of gas you add to your tank add 1 ounce of oil so if you put 12 gallons of gas add 12 ounces of oil. Trust me your motor will last way longer and the engine temps will be lower. I use to do that to my 1300 efi ski before i went big bore and after 550 hours i took that motor out and put it in my wifes XLL and still is running with 670 hours and i will be taking it apart now to go big bore.

I figure i would share this with the forum members this could save you a motor in the long run. Thank you, Jim
    Great info Thanks

I only wish I had read this before I fried a piston and cylinder last weekend. I rebuilt the motor and was running extra oil for break in and as soon as I went to straight gas it seized up. I had Tim Judge port my cylinders (mild port) and mill the head (135 lbs). Do you recommend more than 1 oz per gallon? Also, if I send my cylinder to be re-plated does it have to be ported again?

Do you have a shop? I live in Jacksonville and will come down and do some business with you.

    Thanks for the info.
