    Annoying Scam Emails

I keep getting "notices" that someone has Paypaled me some money and all I need to do to get it is click on a link. Unfortunately, they keep sending these "notices" to an email address that is not linked to my Paypal account. The latest one said "Khalid Hussein just sent you money through Paypal" followed by the statement that "Robert Cooper is a Premier buyer."

Now I am also getting emails from the IRS telling me how I can collect my tax rebate by clicking on a link.

Man, with all of these links to money I keep getting, I will be rich in no time.

internet scams are a billion+ dollar year market.

The sad part of your post is that someone clicked on it and lost their paypal account to the scammer.

Yeah, I know. And I've quit reporting them to Paypal because I get no response, so I don't even know if they are doing anything about it.

I like the ones from banks about my account being compromised...especially from banks where I've never had an account.

Yes, those are dangerous because they could actually scam someone who is leary of scams. I got one of those "from" my actual bank. At first I dismissed it as a scam, but then I started worrying that someone had been able to hack my account. Of course I didn't click the link they wanted me to click, but I could see how even an intelligent person might.

Do you do what I do? I like to fill them out with what looks like legit info, then somewhere down the line I mention things they like to do, none of it pretty. Well not pretty to most anyway. Only takes a moment of my time and might get them thinking they got an actual scamee. Got one for Bank of Americaa few weeks ago. That one looked really good, seriously looked like it was from Bank of America. Except of course the URL, but it looked exactly like the BOA website and all. Filled that one out, of course.
