can you use outboard oil in 2 stroke yamaha ?

I have a 2001 suv1200 waverunner. I've always used the yamalube oil for it. recently around here it has been hard to come by. i am low on oil and all i could find today was some tcw-3 outboard oil. is it safe to use ?

    welcome to gh

do you still have the cat converter in it? if so yamalube is recommended but not 100% essential. It is designed to give longer life to the cat converter, but youre only talking a few hours really.

personally, I'd go with the "other" stuff

I just use valvoline in my stocker boat, runs fine with it and has 130 hours now. No cat tho.

as long as it's tcw-3 rated and it says its safe for injection systems you are ok. If you want to step ut to syntheic, it will cost a little less than the yamaglue and burn a whole lot cleaner. I like this for stock ski's. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/hpi.aspx?zo=1520362

feel free to pm me any questions avbout amsoil. I'm a dealer

hmm.. i am not sure if it said anything about being "safe for oil injection" do i have something to worry about ? Also pm me some details about that amsoil stuff. shipping for a gal to 11730 ? Also can it be mixed in with the yamalube ? do you have to stick with it or can you say use yamalube next time without a problem ? Thanks

Some realy cheap oil is not good for injection systems. But those ar VERY few and far between.

YOu can mix the amsoil with the yamlube, but as with any oil, it's best to minimize the mixing.

If its rated tcw3 its ok for oil injection systems, the only difference between the walmart brand tcw3 and say the mercury premium tcw3 is the premium oils have more high pressure and water resistant additives, also better at anti foaming. We ran over 1500 hrs on 750 zxi kawasakis using 7.50 a gallon tcw3 bought at walmart, they showed no ring lip at top of cylinder and still were within 5psi of original cranking compression.Todays oils if they pass tcw3 specs are awsome. The only ski you need to run a different oil in is the rotary valve seadoos as they require oil with more paraffin as it has to lube the rotary valve and also acts as a 4 stroke oil by lubing center crankshaft bearings and rotary shaft bearings directly!!!JMHO>Marvin
