About to build jet ski stand, quick question....

I am going to build it out of 4x4 as I do not have anybody around here that sells the damn stands for these things. My question is will the wood be to hard on the hull even with carpet? Wont it press to hard on the side or something since it will not give at all? It will be on there for a week tops until I can get a stand ordered to get here.

Why dont you build your stand out of 2"pvc scedule 80 build them using 4 90deg,2 ts for x-o at ends 4 caps for bttom of legs mount this on a 2x6" frame with the caps bolted to the wood for xtra strength you can add 2 internal ts halfway down the top rails make it 6 legged instead of 4,The 4 legged one supports up to 500lbs if built right,I have had polaris 3 seaters on them.Unfortuneatly I sold them when I sold my shop I dont have any pictures but build it where it looks like a pre bought metal rack, the pvc doesnt damage hull and is very easy to slide skis off and on.>Marvin PS all boat trailers have 2x4 wood bunks that are carpeted , they dont hurt the hull!!!

Yes I did'nt want to use pvc, it takes to long. I built one out of 4x4s that I found on here. It works and looks damn good.

If nothing else use the 4x4s for the frame work and use 2x4s for the runners that hold the ski since that is what is used on trailers.

LOL - dude, that's funny. I wish I had seen that post YESTERDAY. I built that exact stand last night. LOL.

Solution: After I saw that post, I am going today and getting some banding material and will wrap a safety band around the down legs on each end to apply INWARD pressure on the down legs.

Honestly, when all was said and done, heavy duty 3" PVC, couplings, casters - didn't save much money. Would probably just buy one and have it shipped in next time....but now I have two friends that want me to work with them and build 3 more. Go figure.
