Thread: Primer Question

    Primer Question

I have a couple XL700s that are stock, except I went pre-mix after recent rebuilds. I want to switch to primers instead of using the choke.

Can I connect the primers to the old oil ports on the carb cover plates, or do I need to pull the carbs and remove the choke plates so that I can connect them directly to the carbs?

I'm pretty sure that this will get gas to the carbs. I just wonder if it will create fire hazard.

Yes you can connect the primer lines where the oil lines used to go to the carbs. This is a commoon practice.

It is the easy way ! but the choke removal method is a gain in airflow and gives a great place to put the primer plunger ( the old choke knob location)
