Thread: 61.3 on the GPS

    61.3 on the GPS

Isn't this a couple of MPH low for a stock 1200? Topped out on the tach at 6700.

Also checked a '97 SL 1050 and it did 60.2.

Sounds about right to me...they were 61-63mph stock. Top rpm speed is where it should be. Other factors....air conditions, rider weight, gas tank amount, wind, current of water if on a river...ect. They all play a part.

What surprises me is how close the 1050 is on smooth water when it supposedly has 15 less HP. We rode in some bad chop last weekend and he was hooked up good all day while I couldn't get hooked up at full throttle with the trim all the way down. That hull seems to be as good or better for top speed than the SLX hull and way better in the chop.

Gonna try a new rideplate and cut the sponsons and GPS it again with less fuel in it. Hopefully we'll have time to GPS the Seadoo tomorrow for a comparison.

The 1050's were great machines and just goes to show people that the 1200's weren't all that much better than them. The flat bottom hull does make a difference depending on the water conditions.

i had both at the same time 97 sl 1050 and 01 slx 1200 and the 1050 would run with the 1200 all day and most of the time beat the 1200 .

The '97 1050 was an over achiever. Both hulls are the same on the bottom. Whats the condition of the impeller on your 1200? Which impeller is it?
