Question 96 Slt Inter Spark New Parts Need Help

Let me say first this is a friend ski and he bought the updated ignition kit, cdi, stator, coil. He installed a new flywheel, the stator and cdi. The ski has a brand new fully charged battery and the spark has never looked right to me but will start once in a while. Most of the time there's no or very weak spark. My ? is do you have to install the new coil and how can I get a wiring diagram for the complete up date. He has rode this ski about 5 min all year and really want to ride Labor day. Any help would be great. Thanks

    Welcome to the Hulk Shredder.

What ski is this specificly? 96 SLT doesn't help much

Have you tried cutting the plug wires back a 1/4" and re-securing the plug boots?

If an update KIT is available, I'm going to guess it's an SLTX 1050.

The update is posted in the tech section. Do you have a photo of the hook ups in the box?

Does it have a stronger spark as you release the start button?
What is the actual voltage at the battery while cranking the engine (use a volt meter at the battery)?
Check all grounds. With an ohm meter measure from thr negative side of the battery to the end of the spark plug wire, do you have roughly 600 ohms? IF so, the grounds should be O.K.

If you have a new coil from the kit, why wouldn't you install it and give it a try?? I thought somebody told me the early kits don't have a coil in it.

I've only done about 50 or so, I guess I'm O.K. with it.
