    ride plate gains

I have a older style riva plate that is grinded for more angle and is polished on the bottom. I am only getting 1 mph better than my stock plate with washers on my front bolts. This is on my 2003 GP1300R with a 1200 grate. Does this sound right? Or should I be getting more than 1 extra mph with the modded Riva plate.

I would think that the magic in the ride plates that are being modified by people such as Jim and Carl is much more work than a shinny surface and grinding for angle. I can't speak for Carl's plates since I have never had one but a Jim plate is good for 3+ mph.
I do also know the amount of angle you have plus how it is mounted in reference to the pump shoe will have big effect on your speeds.

When you washered the front of the plate down, did you make sure the angled sides aren't hanging down below the angled sides of the pump shoe?

I have to do the pump tunnel reinforcement. I was hoping to get through this summer and take care of it over the winter.

I was out today and hit a log that was submerged under the water line. I have to marine tex a large scratch / gauge in the bottom of the ski first.

Man, I would not ride that ski again until you do the reinforcement.

Especially on a 2003! That was the worst year for pump tunnel explosions wasn't it?

Yep! Exactly why I would not ride it.
