Changing Profile from: Rebuilding GTX to OWNING/DRIVING GTX!!

After busting every knuckle 27 times, putting parts on, taking them back off, putting them back on, then finding a wire that wasn't in the right spot and taking the parts back off, I finally got it right.

I had a 2004 GTX with a blown motor - given to me by a close friend who put the money into a new 2008 RXP. Dropped a slightly used new 4-TEC SC into her this weekend (thanks Jack) and spent all day Saturday and Sunday getting everything back together.

Happy to have it finished, hoping to not have to ever do it again.

Good job man. We all need friends like that. Looks like a pretty clean ski.

    Ron -
No, and I know that I should have. I wanted to get everything together, make sure it was running, and then I am going to take it to the dealership and have it checked out just for security. I will have them do the alignment and check the map.
Took it to the lake for a water test about an hour ago (while waiting for the tropical storm to hit) and everything works - but it runs like CRAP. I know it needs plugs, and I need to have the map checked. I assumed that the stock map from one engine to the other would be the same, but it really runs rough. So I want someone to go over it and check it out - make sure everything works out.

    Excellent,
Nothing like the victory of a blown up dead ski back and running in the garage. and the best part the dealer oir stealer was not involved. Sammy I will be ready to ride soon going to be gone this weekend Bahamas w/ the family.

LOL - well, it WOULD have been a GREAT feeling, had the c-clip holding the 10 tooth starter gear not come off, and drop the starter gear down into the PTO housing.

Luckily the c-clip came off on start up, and then the next time I tried to start it the gear came off the end of the starter...so the motor wasn't running and didn't chew anything up. Could have been HUGE issues.....

So...after 36 hours of having the engine IN the ski, it's now back OUT of the ski again. Got everything fixed, but I need to go tomorrow and get a new c-clip (for safety, don't trust the original one if it came off once already) and a new PTO gasket (hoping they have it in stock).

Silver lining??? The engine came out in under an hour - versus 6-7 hours the first time...so I am getting better.
