Holding Crank Shaft, for SC Pulley removal??

As it says guys, and as most of ya will already know I,ve had a bearing failure that has toasted my pump, engine, and drive shaft. Anyways I have to rebuild my engine which in itself is not to difficult, now removing the DAMN SC pulley from the crank is another ball game completely. The workshop manual says to secure the timing wheel with the special tool which I have, then it says to unscrew the pulley with special tool number two, which I also have. But when you try to do this it just shears the timing wheel locking pin. Also it does it real easy, hardley any force at all. If anyone has any sugestions at all I would be real gratefull, as I,m against a brick wall at the moment!!!

    Thanks in advance......

I had the same problem as you, broke the pin and it did not budge. I ended up having to removing the head and the cylinders and put 2 blocks of wood against the crank and case and then used a breaker bar to get it off. The manual makes it look like a piece of cake but it was a real pain to get apart.

Hmm have you thought of doing the rope down the cylinder trick like we do on the 2 strokes.

No because of the risk of bending the valves.

Have you tried using an impact gun on it?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, yep I,ve tried the impact gun, no joy.
I guess the twat from Kawi that wrote that manual went to the same school as the monkey with the silicone gun, and was just spinning the pulley off that he just spun on by hand with the SPECIAL...tools..
I guess I,ll have to just strip the rest off the top of the engine and do it that way..God all this for a twenty quid bearing....
The only posotive side is I made two tools today out of my shagged drive shaft. I cut six inches off either end and welded a big nut on both and now have a prop removing tool and a SC pulley removing tool too....
So things are on the up...

Sorry to hear about your problems. i cant suggest anymore than the other guys already have as i have not removed the pulley.

However exactly what bearing went? is it the only bearing back there that can cause the kind of damage that it did?? got me all scared Was it the bearing that you can see on the driveshaft on inside of hull right before pump? or was it one of the pump bearings? best of luck.

    NEVERMIND. SORRY

Ok guys lifted the top off the engine and exposed the crank. Took one look inside and oh my god the amount the crank has moved is massive.
