SeaDoo purchase :: Advice on Max hours/value

There is a 2005 SeaDoo wake (4TEC 155hp 4 stroke) that a neighbor is looking to sell but it has over 300 hours. Cosmetically there is light oxidation and a few gel coat issues that can probably be resolved with some TLC. Runs great and seems mechanically sound. It has always been serviced at the local dealer and used primarily in fresh water. Asking $6500 for ski trailer and drive on "jet dock"

See attached for NADA - low retail for the seadoo only is $6400

    1. Would you consider purchasing a seadoo with this many hours.
    2. How many hours can I expect to get?
    3. What is a fair price?

Thanks - Oh and the primary use will be to pull wakeskate & hit sliders

    Welcome to the forum!
Is there an extended warranty on it?
If not, you need to be aware that major repairs on 4 strokes can be expensive.
It's not a SC model so that will reduce your chances of big problems, but it's still a risk. If you encounter serious engine trouble you can be looking at 5-$6,000 to get it running. That's a lot of hours with no warranty. If you can accept that, make an offer, they might take 5.5K. Personally, I would seek out a pre-owned unit with a transferrable warranty.

$6500 is alot of jack for a 05 NA 4-tec with 300 hours.

I say keep looking, there are better deals than that in the Greenhulk classifieds.

I personaly would not buy a ski with 300 hrs on it but the jet dock is a nice bonus. Do a compression check before you buy it. I definitely would not give 6500 for it. Sounds like a $4500 ski and a $1000 dock.

Thanks for the quick response...I am going to do a compression test and check on the extended warranty. If it checks out sounds like we will need to talk price - Great info guys!

Is it a single Jet Dock? I'm on a double Jet Dock and on the outside, there's only about 5" between the ski and the edge of the dock. On the inside between the skis there's about a foot. Putting the cover on is a real pain because of that... Ron

In order to still be friends with the neighbor, never buy anything from them because if something happens there will be hard feelings. Buy another ski and floating dock.
