    Winter rebuild project

Rafi and I with some phone assistance of Coop have disassembled my ski. I took this opportunity to flip the ski and check out the underside. We noticed a few "imperfections". Some gouges which we can fill and some rough spots which we can sand down. However I noticed the center of the keel has a large flat spot. Should this be? If not how do we fix it? Also from the pics is there anything else you see which we should take this opprtunity to address? How about the transom plate, is it set correct, is it ok to have the seal squishing out like it is?

    Thanks for all your help,
    Idizzy

No sir...that keel is supposed to be V-ed from front to where it flows into the pump. You got some glass work to do my friend. It looks like it's been beached a few times, no doubt. All the other imperfections need some good epoxy filling done. Take your time and prep the surface well before you apply your epoxies. Sand, prep, apply and sand again. Get that epoxy I recommended, Acetone and a variety of sandpaper courseness...find the Hull trueing 333 method of truing it and go from there. All your sanding strokes should be front to rear.

you can make a wedge out of wood and when you apply the epoxy, run the wedge back and forth and get the general rise of the keel. Then with a sanding block begin to sand strokes that bring it to the desired edge. This is the way I did it...amybe a glass pro can elaborate on how to better. I basically put a nice amount of the epoxy on and take my wedge that I cut, and shape it like clay. You don't wont the keel too sharp either or you may get an undesired chine walk.

Could I bother someone to please post a clean picture of the bottom of a hull, so I can see what it should look like.
