Stick with NGK BR8HS (stock plugs). Does it go into limp mode when the temp light comes on?

Yes it goes into limp mode when I shut it off and restart it it goes away and runs fine until the next time the temp light comes on. Is there a way to bypass the sensor

The sensor is either going to be on the head, or the pipe, I can't remember which on the GP760. Try unbolting it and see what it does. Are you getting water coming out of the side?

I am leaning towards a sensor problem. If it was lean, it most likely would have seized by now, IMO.
