    SBT A$$&*les !!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK so I have my scored cylinders sent off to a shop. I call SBT as now i have my motor apart and can see the crank. On the PTO side It is clear as day MISSING a thrust washer. Thats right MISSING, was never ever installed. SO I call them told them, Hey I broke the gaskets open it voids the warranty, so Ill eat the piston / jug cost, but I feel I should be able to exchange my crank for a "good" one seeing as cranks are warranteed for a year also. They say the best they can do is SELL me an exchanged crank for $350. I replied Thats rediculous. She says buying an aftermarket head and breaking the seal is rediculous. AHHH everything about their motors is JUNK.

When it comes to rebuilding a 2 stroke engine my best advice is to do it yourself with quality parts. If you are not doing it yourself with quality parts go to someone that is really reputable to get the work done to your original engine. I would be really pissed if I sent a good core and got a rebuilt engine with patches welded on the crank case.

The rebuild shops base their business on the law of averages. Of all the PWC in the states the average annual hours accumulated per ski is very low. Most folks aren't out there with a gps and a tach pushing their skis to the limits and riding 100 hours a year.

Based on that the business model works.

You wouldn't buy a rebuilt engine out of the Penny Saver and put it in a Corvette. Same applies here.

Consider it a lesson learned and move on.

Personally, I'd junk that crank and find another one.

Well thats what happened I sent them a pretty decent core. The one they sent back had very poorly welded cases. The crank is going to crankworks. 140 plus the cost of the washer and he will make sure the crank is trued also all for $140.

My parts list is as follows
    NEW OEM Cases
Trued and welded crank done by crankworks
Stock cylinder bored to 85mm w/exhaust on
    Pro-X 85mm pistons
Jet Tech head with 42cc domes
Basically $1200 was flushed to SBT.Oh well I am ready to overcome, And maybe gain a few MPH.

Make SURE you put a note in there to explain to CrankWorks that SBT had their dickbeaters all over that crank.

My point is that if they screwed up one thing, then they damn sure screwed up the rest.
