    piston ring instalation

    How do i put the rings on the piston with out breaking the rings? Never done this befor.

    slide one half on at a time bottom first! I have never seen any one break them! are you going to be the first?

    there is a top and bottom of some ring too!!!!!!!!!!

    Z: So just kinda slide the ring around? Im assuming theres no need to pull on the ring?

    Just checkin with ya Z. I dont wanna mess up a ring an have an have it come apart inside of there; we all know how that looks.

    The rings are directional like previously mentioned.

    The tapered side goes UP.

    If the ring doesn't spin around the piston freely, then it's installed incorrectly.

    Be sure to measure ring gap before installing, otherwise cylinder damage may result.

    X, i got the rings on. Its a wiseco piston, i didnt notice any kind of taper on the ring. But the rings do spin freely i can tell you that. End gap was set by machinist.

    Wiseco doesn't have the tapered rings, so you're good to go.

    Be sure to warm the engine fully with Wisecos before going WOT.

    There should be a pin in the piston that catches the gap in the rings you should not be able to spin the rings.
