Didnt here the audible WHOOSH !!! ???

I found an article on one of my Super Street magazines that says you should hear the audible whoosh sound when removing the gas cap.

    the article states

"There should be an audible whoosh when the gas cap from a car equipped with an evaporative control system (charcoal vapor canister). No sound indicates a vacuum leak in one of the hoses, and vacuum leaks degrade engine performance"

Would this apply to our skis as well ? I opened my tank the other day and didn't hear anything. I recently added a few mods that can possibly have a leak, I still havn't ran it yet to test for leaks.

Here is a better description from group k
Pressure test fuel system - All pwc utilize a sealed fuel system that has a check valve on the gas tank vent. This check valve (which permits pressure in the gas tank but not out) causes pressure in the gas tank that helps deliver fuel to the carb(s). Any air leak in the fuel system that permits the leaking off of this pressure, will also affect fuel delivery to the carb(s) at low speeds. To test for leaks, follow this procedure. 1) remove the return line from the fitting on the carb. 2) Blow into the return line while sealing off the return fitting on the carb with your finger. This will pressurize the entire fuel system. In a quiet room you'll be able to hear any remaining leak in the fuel system. When you remove your finger from the fitting on the carb, fuel will eventually drip out indicating that the float chamber is primed full of fuel.

No this is normal. Our skis have a breather pipe that runs from the tank up to a y piece and then to a breather. Take out your front storage bucket ant look for a bout half inch pipe running to the tank. it exits the ski just below the rub rail on the front right hand side of the ski. Well on the rxp anyways i havnt look at any other skis this close. Hope this helps R88
