    impeller question

i noticed everyone is using the the 15/22 impeller on the P-X. i was checking out the r&d site and i saw they have an impeller which is 14/24 Pro Pitch Solas Impeller on rpm 8150.

i have an rpm of 8000 and i ride almost 71-72 miles with a 15/22 impeller, riva grate, my own custom thru hull exhaust and a 4inch custom tube filter and i have a faced with ported head and removed the intake filter. i used to have an rpm before the head work 7750.

our weather here in the middle east is very warm which reaches a temperature minimum 100 fahrenheit so you guys can imagin how warm the water is here. so i am looking for speed, so do you think this 14/24 Pro Pitch Solas Impeller will add me speed ? i know that i will lose accelration but my aim is speed as i mentioned before

Wait until Monday. I will be re-testing the R&D pro-pitch prop on my T-X. It's also very warm here in Lake Havasu, with normal temps around 114deg f.

Today, with just the R&D performer kit, temp was over 100deg, and full tank of gas, I averaged 70.2mph. The mph didn't change when I had a half tank of gas, so I've got a good baseline.

The last time I tried the pro-pitch, I gained about 1.5mph, and didn't notice any loss of bottom end. But, the temp was around 85deg, and I only got to test it for one day. This time I'll do a much longer test, to include fuel mileage. I've got 55hours on my ski, and always ride with a GPS, so I've got a real good idea of what the top speed should be given the temperature, same with fuel mileage.

Took the boat out today with the 13/23 R&D pro-pitch prop. Ran it in both directions, and gained exactly 1 mph. No loss in bottom end.
Also, I like to cruise sometimes. Usually right at 5000rpm, this give me the best range. With the stock prop, the speed at 5000 rpm was 35mph. With the pro-pitch, its 39mph. So, I can go farther with the same amount of fuel.

I'm not sure why this is, but I think its probably because the pro-pitch is just more aggressive in the root of the blade, and probably more efficient.
