Why would you leave it out? I'm not sure I understand what you can gain from that?

How is that '05 coming along???

will leaving them out give better holeshot ?

having fun with the 05 have setup for surf with 13/20 Concord heaps better holeshot and will still do 70mph at 7440 rpm

The reed stuffers were designed to increase the fuel/air velocity through the intake tract. It helps produce increased throttle response along with more acceleration.
    Keep them in.

I thought it was to get them from sticking into the crankcase, that is the plate. Which gives it better air flow through the cases. Thats what a spacer does.

The spacer plate if I'm not mistaken helps keep the reed petals away from the crank windage (turbulence) and not block the boost port.
The spacer plate is what is also helping make these VF3-s last longer than other Reed combinations.

I am on 38 hours of use and others are seeing in excess of 50-80 hours wit
with no broken petals or issues.

Lowell Horning has some good pics of this.

Primary reason, it saves your reeds.

    Keep them in.
