    1300 Trouble Again

    I have a 03 GP1300, first jet ski I've owned. To make a long story short, it's had a lot of problems. I've only ridden once this summer that something did not go wrong. The newest problem to plague me is this. The ski will get up to about 7500 RPM for about 4 seconds, then the RPM's will drop to 3000 then shoot back up to 7500. I get wiplash riding it. Then after about 10 minutes of riding, the engine light (alarm) comes on. I turn the ski off, it stays off for another ten minutes. Just before this started happing, my clamp from the stinger to the exhaust box came lose, filling the inside of my ski with exhaust. I'm hoping that it's my plugs, which I've cleaned, but wanted to get your guys thoughts. Thanks for the help in advance.

    Can you give a a quick history on the ski.. Any mods??

    Bought it from a friend, who bought it from Florida. The seller in Florida ripped my buddy off. Gouge in 3rd Cylinder (replaced), valve tore up (replaced), head was pitted (replaced). The guy also did'nt bother hooking back up the oil pump, and did'nt tell anyone, so after four quarts in my hull, I'm running premix. The ski at one time had heavy mods, but now it's only got Riva flame arrester, blue riva exhaust hose, and a d-plate.

    I would start with the carbs.. Clean/rebuild and verify jetting and pop-off. Take a peak at the reeds while the carbs are off.

    Don't put carbs on it just yet...LOL...the efi is not the issue. LOL

    It's an 03, so it's the first year they went from carbs to EFI.

    Plugs foul quickly when the engine compartment is full of exhaust. Put new ones in first before you get too worried.

    I just referred to the manual, it appears the alarm coming on is the check engine. I can't seem to figure out what that would be coming on from. Any help anybody can give me would be great.

    Are you reading your RPMs from the stock tac: if so, you need an aftermarket tac so you can get an accurate reading. 7500 seams a little high.
    There are some threads about having your injectors sent out to be flow tested. You might look this up and see if this could be some of what is causing your symtoms.
